Well..Ok…
Seems that these days it’s all about getting traffic to your blog. Getting your blog seen by places like Google and indexed by them so that your site will get a lot of visitors. But what if those visitors are doing just that? Visiting? What if they’re not doing anything else. Is that going to be enough to keep you up and running?
What I mean is, if you depend upon your website for income, such as purchases from affiliate programs such as those as Amazon or purchases from your own stock of items (if you’re like me and make handmade jewelry or crocheted/knitted items, etc)? Or perhaps you simply have a newsletter that you feel would be helpful to others, and you feel that word of mouth might just get you more customers for the services you offer?
This is where you need to stop thinking about search engine optimization and start thinking about conversion rate optimization. Conversions are people who actually do what you wanted them to when they came to your site, such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or a feed. Sometimes it’s a matter of optimizing your conversion rate as well as your search engine rankings. Look into it. You might find it to be an area you hadn’t thought of when handling your site.
