W-9 Forms & Other Stuff

I spent some time at our public library yesterday getting a W-9 form printed out so I could send it in to a company that I’m going to start doing some work for as soon as they get the W-9 and verify my account. While I was there, I looked at a few books on ghosts and hauntings. I found one I wanted to have, so I found it on Amazon and purchased both it and another ghost book. So I have two books coming soon! ) Yay! )

However, I kept getting kind of tired of the ads that kept appearing on the library computer screen. Weird ads like colon cleansing reviews and all kinds of other odd medical stuff. I told the librarian about it since usually their computers don’t have any sort of thing like that. They said someone had probably gone to a website that put something on the computer that caused all that crap to pop up. It wouldn’t surprise me. I found out that they have 10 computers that are connected to the internet and do NOT have limited access. In fact, the library is coming under fire for those computers because they do NOT block MySpace, Facebook, chat sites, etc. The only sites that are blocked are obvious porn and of all things, anything that is .PDF and NOT from IRS.gov. The last time I’d been there, they’d told me I couldn’t print anything that was .PDF period – but now it’s set to allow from IRS.gov because of tax season. (Insert eye rolling here.)

What made me mad though was that I had to reinstate my library card. No problem, but then they tell me I owe a whole bunch of money for books that they say I lost. I never lost them. The library had ONE copy of each of those books when I checked them out (they only owned one copy of each book) and now they have two copies – one that is worn and old and one that is newer. Yeah – because whoever checked the books in when I brought them back didn’t flippin’ check them in correctly and so they went to the shelf. But yet even though I showed them the books, since they bought new copies, I have to pay for the new copies – so they say I have over $100 in fines.

And then they wonder why I detest their system. Hmmm, duh???
