Time to Get Certified
People at work are going on and on about how they feel they need to get back to school. A lot of them are wondering what they should go for. Should they go for full degrees or should they go for certifications? I asked them what they’re looking at doing and most of them don’t know. As for me, I know what I’d like to do, and I’m working slowly towards getting certifications in those areas. But I was checking out some online options for education the other day and found some interesting stats regarding CAPM certificate holders.
Did you know that a project manager in the computer and information systems field makes a wage of approximately $108,070 annually? I sure didn’t! Employment rates, not sure for what year but sometime in the last 3 years, is 64,000 employees working that type of job. They project that 14,000 more project managers in this field will be needed between 2006 and 2016? That might not seem like a lot, but it’s enough to make one or two small towns worth of employees! That’s a big chunk when you look at it that way!
Other areas are booming as well. And it looks like Saint Joseph’s University has everything a person would need to get started towards getting the certification, including exam prep. I’m definitely going to be looking into this particular establishment for learning when I’m ready to get certified. I might want to be a web designer, but frankly, I’d be happy to be a project manager as well.
