Techincally Inclined
As my current job is up in the air (my boss text messaged me saying she had to term me, but her boss called and asked when I’d be back at work) I have been looking over the job postings in my area. There are actually quite a few of them, which is surprising due to the current state of the economy and people everywhere losing their jobs and not being able to find new ones. I suppose I should be grateful that I may have an opportunity to actually get another job if it is necessary. However, it does make me wonder about the company I work/worked for if they can have a supervisor send a text message to an employee saying they were termed, but that supervisor’s supervisor calling asking when that same employee will be back to work. I’m wondering if I should cut my losses and find a different job. Of course if they say I’m not termed, I will most likely work there until I can obtain different employment and then leave.
This job hunting is where being a technically inclined person comes in handy. I can apply for positions requiring me to have computer tech skills, because I know what ddr is, I know what computer component is what and what they do. This makes me more desirable at the local call centers than some others because I don’t need to have hours spent with me to figure out what things are and how to use my tools (computer). It is definitely good to be someone who worked for a computer manufacturer and who loves computers.
I’ve even used my skills as a web designer and web master in a tech support job before, as when I worked for the ISP I had to do tech calls about the ISP’s homepages.
So everything comes in handy.
Now if I could just get a job that involved my HTML and WordPress skills, I’d be in heaven. Probably not going to happen, at least not around here, but we’ll see. Stranger things have happened!
