Mother’s Day is approaching quickly. In the Mid-West where I live, it’s 28 minutes away. East coast is already 32 minutes into Mother’s Day. West coast has 2 1/2 hours to go, Mountain time 1 1/2 hours to go. BFL and I are ready to go. She purchased a small gift for her mom, and we both bought greeting cards for Mother’s Day for her mom. I also bought one for a friend of mine, but she won’t get it until after Mother’s Day because I can’t mail it until Monday.

What truly amazed me was the selection of cards there were! And the fact that even this close to Mother’s Day, they weren’t sold out. What is going on? Do people no longer truly celebrate Mother’s Day? Or are cards just no longer a part of it? I have a couple of friends who live for cards. They adore cards and will send them for no reason at all. They think nothing of picking out Mother’s Day cards for their moms, two or three of them if they can’t decide which to get! I mean, seriously!

I love cards myself, although a lot of the time the cost of purchasing and sending them don’t allow me to do so. BFL and her mom have taken to buying them by the box at the local Christian store. Especially sympathy cards. They’ve had so many people at their church pass away in the past couple of months, they bought a box instead of individual cards! They also bought boxes of Thank You cards when BFL’s dad passed away to send to those who sent cards/money/etc. I used to buy boxes of birthday cards or all occasion cards. I haven’t been able to find them lately though. But I have more Christmas cards than anyone else I know! I’m set for the next 10 years or so. LOL
