No Fashion Sense

Some people would tell you that I have no fashion sense. It’s not so much that I don’t have any real fashion sense, it’s that I’m extremely picky about the clothes that I will wear. For one thing, white shirts are out with me. Why? Because I am a messy eater and frankly, I’ve ruined far too many nice white shirts. So I don’t do white shirts.

I prefer black or dark colored clothes, but not because they look “slimming.” Believe me, they do not look slimming on someone my size. They simply look like everything else does. No matter what anyone says, there really aren’t very many clothes that are cut to flatter a plus size person. When I do find something that makes me look or feel even slightly less attractive than I actually am, I tend to buy it.

About a month ago, I purchased a new top and a new pair of pants. I still haven’t worn them. More because they’re dressy type clothes and I don’t want to wear them for a normal situation. I prefer to keep them for a time when I’ll need something a little more dressy to wear.

Have you ever kept clothes back for the sake of wearing them when you have a reason to?

I don't do white either. I'm normally pretty good with getting food in my mouth and not on my clothing, but anytime I wear white, I suddenly eat like a slob. Plus, with little kids and their gooey, sticky, grubby little hands, white just never works out. It doesn't work with dogs, either. I wore a white tank top and a white skirt last Sunday, and after three hours I had muddy paw prints on the skirt and grubby juice hand prints on the top. Heh.

And I hear you on slimming "colors". I don't think it's so much about the colors you wear, but the types of clothing you wear. Materials and how a shirt is cut and styled will definitely have an impact on how good (or bad lol) you look in it. Those tops that are fitted beneath the bust, for example, always make me look pregnant. Those are a definite no-no!

LOL, I've worn a few of those tops. I actually used to have a dress that if I wore it, people would instantly ask when I was due. I always felt like saying "have you seen my ass lately?" :D Anything that makes me look pregnant is a no-no.

I usually do keep a few, but I tend to drew up more unless it is for going around to the park or doing yard work, or just plain too tired to care at the moment.

I like to wear black because... well... I have always tended to pick clothes with black, or even white. Those are bold. However, I usually do add a splash of color with accessories or have a several piece outfit.

I prefer to wear black myself, simply because I like the color. Purple is my favorite color, but as I look like a giant grape or plum if I wear it, I tend not to wear it. :)

I think part of my problem with dressing up is really that it's very hard to find comfortable dress shoes. I have big, hard to fit feet and I have problems with my feet and ankles making some shoe styles impossible to wear. :/
