Dieting Woes

I am thinking of starting another diet. I am not sure if I want to go with a website such as SparkPeople or eDiets, or if I want to try going it alone. By going it alone, I mean creating my own healthy eating regimen without having a menu planned for me. Of course, usually if I make one up for myself, I end up saying no to all the stuff that I should be eating due to the cost of those foods. Ever notice the junk you should not be eating is what is affordable? The price of fruit and vegetables around here is ridiculous.

I hear at work all the time how the gals there are turning to things like appetite suppresants in order to lose weight. They’re figuring that the pills will help them lose the weight without them having to change what they’re eating. Well, sorry girls, but if you’re still eating cheeseburgers and pizza, you’re still going to stay fat. It just doesn’t work that way. You have to change what you’re eating as well as how much you’re eating.

And counting calories really doesn’t work. Why not? Because I can find foods that have only a few calories but they’re not good for me and so it doesn’t matter. I still end up getting fat off them because they’re not good foods, they’re empty calories. So yeah, if you’re planning your meals around your calorie intake, trust me, although it’s a good idea to count your calories, it really doesn’t help much. At least not in my experience.
