Welcome to My Boring Life
Well, life is certainly boring for me right now. The job market here in Iowa stinks, so finding a job has not been going well at all. I can’t go back to school because the local college has me listed as ineligible for financial aid for one full semester (and still won’t tell me why, I already made up the freakin’ failed classes from 15 years ago but they still won’t do it until I do a second semester apparently.)
So what do I do all day? I get on the computer, play games online, play iWin and GameHouse games, blog, read, and crochet. Yeah. That’s my life. Oh yeah, and I check out sites like Elance to see if there are any decent blogging/writing freelance projects out there. Let me tell you – no there are not. Most of them are to spin articles – basically they send you articles written by someone else and you “spin” them to make them unique and make them look like the story was broken by the website you wrote it for. I mean, in a way I suppose I could do it, but then in another way, I wouldn’t want it traced back to me – you have no idea if the person you’re writing this stuff for is going to say “hey this person gave me the article” when they get called out for having stolen an article. No thanks.
I’ve contacted people who say they want blogs set up, but they never want to pay more than the minimum $50 for the set up and themes together, and frankly, no way. You want me to go through setting it up, getting all the necessary plugins, and create a theme, but only pay $50? Hmm, no thanks. Especially since I only get to “apply” for three jobs per month – which means if I apply for and get three jobs for $50 I only get $150 for the month and I’m finished. No thank you. :/
And in other news, we had a rather disgusting issue – we had purchase four Betty Crocker Suddenly Salad kits – only to find when we opened them that all four had bugs both in the box and in the sealed bag of pasta. Ew. So I grabbed the box tops and shot off an email via the form on Betty Crocker’s website. I received an answer about a week later stating I would be receiving “an adjustment on my purchase” within the next 14 days. We’ll see what that adjustment is. We’re hoping it’s not a check that would cost more to cash than to just tear up and throw away. We’re also hoping that it’s not coupons for free Suddenly Salad or XX off the next purchase of it, because we’ve decided to stick to the Gourmet Select Pasta Salad kits we get at Dollar Tree.
Oh yeah, and that cooking blog I mentioned a few posts ago? I’ve got it put together, but there’s nothing there yet. When there is, I’ll post the link here for you all.
