A Pet Peeve
My friends and I went out for dinner tonight at a local place that does a pizza buffet. I saw one of my biggest pet peeves there – parents who bring their kids to the buffet, have the kids standing right there with them, and then choose the food for the kid. Why bring your kid to a buffet, where they can choose what they want, and then choose their food for them? I actually heard a woman say to their kid, at a PIZZA buffet that he couldn’t get pizza. The mom put three chicken fries and about 10 baby carrots on the kid’s plate and then refused to even let him have ketchup or anything to dip the carrots or chicken fries into. Then she went back and piled a bunch of pizza on her plate. WTF? That irritates me to no end. If the kid is old enough to pick their own food items (and this kid had to be at least 8), let them pick their own food. It’s NOT going to kill them – and frankly if it IS, you shouldn’t have brought them there in the first place! Jeez people!
Granted I was raised to be allowed to choose my own foods, but come on – when you’re at home, yes you should control what your kid wants. But out to eat at a restaurant? No. You’ve just taught your kid that they’re not competent enough to make a choice as simple as what they want for dinner. Good job. *rolls eyes*
