Out to Eat

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Lately we’ve been eating out a lot. As in, all the time. If we eat, it’s not at home. By we I mean my best friend, her mom, and I. Every single day we eat somewhere. Whether it’s pizza we order, going to McDonald’s, or to a regular sit-down restaurant, we go somewhere or get something delivered. Not the best idea for someone wanting to get started on losing weight, I have to admit. But I have to admit, there are a couple of places that if you eat there you won’t need a colon cleanser because you’ll spend the rest of your day/evening in the bathroom. Our local Subway shops are one of them. A couple of local places will do it too – and let’s not even get started on Perkins.

I’m waiting to see if we’re going out for Sunday dinner or not. Usually we do, and they come pick me up. But it’s 12:50 now, which leads me to believe that if they are going out, they went out without me and will bring me something back. It’s still possible they’ll be wandering this way to pick me up, but usually if it’s almost one o’clock, they have already gone to eat and I’m out of luck on that front. )

Code Name: Nanny by Christina Skye

Disclosure: I purchased this book with my own money. I have no connection with this book’s publisher or author in any way. No compensation was received for this review.

I have to say, another winner by Christina Skye! While I have to admit, I’m reading the books completely out of order, I am thoroughly enjoying the series. I just wish I knew exactly what books are in the series. I know I have 2 of them, Nanny & Baby, and I have Princess on the way.

When Summer Mulcahey is assigned to protect San Francisco’s youngest and female assistant DA and her children, she is not aware that Navy Seal Gabe Morgan is also on protection detail there at the personal request of Senator Tate Winslow. But she finds out in a hurry when she finds him standing naked in her shower!

You will love the assistant DA, Cara O’Connor, her fiance Senator Tate Winslow, and her two adorable daughters, Audra and Sophy. Sophy is a little odd but lovable nonetheless. And let’s not forget about Gabe and Summer!

Mayhem, attempted murder, potential blackmail, and more ensue in this action packed contemporary romance novel. A must read novel.

Someone asked me what I do on the internet. Well, I read email, I read blogs, I blog, I play games, I search for things for people who ask me to, things like term life insurance rates and the like. I also get on Facebook and MySpace every so often to play games/apps and connect with friends.

I also work on my other sites like Twisted Mayhem which is my fan listing collective and Charity L Gamble which is my writing/website designer site. That one is really under construction, so if you head over there, please don’t be alarmed by what isn’t there yet. )

So that’s what I do on the internet. I’m thinking of trying my hand at video blogging with my laptop’s built in webcam, but first, I need a place with decent lighting – and private so I don’t feel like a twit. )

Ew. Just Ew.

So there I was, cleaning in my apartment when I came upon a sight that I really didn’t need to see. In a corner of the room that I rarely go into, mainly because it’s dark over there and there aren’t any outlets to plug in a lamp, I discovered a pile of cat barf. While that in and of itself isn’t particularly unusal, part of the contents was. A baby mouse. A whole baby mouse. Yes, I said whole. I can only assume that while I was at work, this hapless baby mouse was spied by my cat – who subsequently killed it and attempted to swallow it whole. When he started to choke on it, he promptly barfed it back up, along with whatever cat food was in his stomach.

I, not about to actually touch it, grabbed the dustpan and broom, swept it into the dustpan, and chucked the mouse outside. Sweeping on carpet isn’t easy, but by Goddess, there was no way in heck I was going to touch it. Nope, not happening! Ew! *shudders*

In other cleaning news, my vacuum is officially dead. Even after being unclogged the vacuum still does not suck anything up at all. So now that it is clear that my vacuum is officially dead, I am going to have to save up for a new vacuum. As well as a new bed, a steam cleaner for my carpets (no one rents them here anymore), and a few other $100 or more purchases I need to make. Now I know I can get a vacuum for less than $100, but my last one was less than $100 and frankly, it didn’t do well with pet hair. My dog sheds like no one’s business and so I need a vacuum designed to withstand pet hair. This one did all right at first, but then I realized it was clogging up. I’d unclog it and it’d be ok. So I figured it was all right. Then I unclogged everything – hose, brush, washed/rinsed the filters, and it still isn’t sucking anything up. I need a vacuum that sucks. )

For the vacuum I’m looking at getting the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. As for the steam cleaner, I’m looking at the Bissell Powersteamer Powerbrush Deep Cleaner. I have a personal preference for Bissell products, as they tend to be very good – as long as you get the right one for your needs that is. LOL So first up is saving for the vacuum, because I can’t use a steam cleaner without vacuuming first.

Catharsis by Skyla Dawn Cameron

Disclosure: This book was available as a free e-book for any and all visitors to the author’s website. The review was posted to give my own opinion of the novel, and I have no relationship with the author.

The other day at Bitten By Books there was a post featuring some free e-books that you could download from various authors. One of the authors was Skyla Dawn Cameron, with Catharsis and Children of the Apocalypse. There were two Children of the Apocalypse novels, both of which I downloaded, and Catharsis which I also downloaded.

Well, last night I read Catharsis in its entirety. In one sitting. All 170 pages of it. I could not pull myself away from this story. I started it just after 1am and finished just before 4am. This is not normal for me. Usually when it’s bedtime for me, I can put my books away and go to bed. Not this time. I simply had to know what was going to happen next.

The gist of the story is that the main character has been picked up by a group of telepathic individuals. They’re all different from the “normal” people. Our main character is also telepathic. The group had been talking online for months – but something was happening to the members of the group. Thinking there is saftey in numbers, they band together.

But when the main character’s little sister disappears and an evil being able to shapeshift into anyone appears, things start to get hairy. You just have to read this e-book to appreciate how wonderful it is!

You can download this e-book for FREE, along with Children of the Apocalypse and Curio Killed the Cat at Skyla’s Website. Just click on the “serials” section!
