Well, that stunk. I finished watching the Coca-Cola 600 and Kasey Kahne won. Tony Stewart was in the lead, bumped the wall, and his tire went down. Damn. *sigh*

I’m in Lurve <3

I got my new phone last night! SQUEEEE! I love it! It’s so awesome! I haven’t yet formatted it for the MP3 player but I got it programmed for my phone number and transferred my contacts. I am so much in lurve with my new phone. Of course, that will probably change in a few months and I’ll want something different instead. But for now, I’m in lurve with my new phone and I wouldn’t want any other phone. )

It’s Official

As of May 20th I will be in training for Sirius. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’ll have to think about it. I definitely will have to think about it. I didn’t really want to go to Sirius but since I didn’t get to start my other job that I’d applied for and been hired for, I don’t have a choice. I can’t wait a month for Nike and frankly, I don’t want to work for Nike. So I guess I’ll just have to deal with the boring calls that are Sirius.

What the Hell?

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Ok, I get to work today and I’m told to go straight to a meeting, even though I’m not clocked in and not supposed to be clocked in for another hour. Ok, fine. So I go to this meeting and to my surprise, there’s a whole bunch of HR people standing around as well as our operations manager. Guess what? Road Runner decided to switch the call volume to the Canadian call centers that are held by Stream, and we have to choose between Nike and Sirius or just plain quit and find a different job. May 31st is the last day our center will take calls for Road Runner.

Myself, I chose to go to Sirius, even though I don’t want to. I’ve listened to Sirius calls and I’d decided to stay with Road Runner, and then BOOM, they smack us upside the head with this. I’m still in shock over it. I wanted to stay with Road Runner, I didn’t want to go to Sirius. I definitely don’t want to go to Nike though, so I guess I’m stuck with Sirius.

What impact does this have on me? Well, first, I’m going from $10.62 an hour to possibly $9.50 an hour. Yeah. Over a dollar pay cut. I might get a bit more than the $9.50, but I’m going to definitely be getting $9.50. But, I can get Sirius radio for free after being on the project for 90 days. *rolls eyes* Yeah, that’s a big help. I need MONEY not free satellite radio service.

The guy at the desk on my left quit, the guy at the desk on the right is quitting after the last day he’s scheduled that Road Runner will be doing. It sucks and I think it’s a load of crap. They swear they didn’t know until this morning, but somehow, I don’t believe them. I think they knew and are just saying that to cover their butts.

If all goes right, my training class for Sirius will start on May 20th. Yippee. Sirius Satellite Radio. Bleh.

My New Phone

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Well, I didn’t get the enV because Verizon was going to charge me $150 for a phone that is only $80 on their website. So we decided to upgrade online instead. Problem is, the enV was out of stock with no indication as to when it would be back in stock, since a new version has come out. So I had to suck it up and get something else. It’s probably going to end up being a piece of crap, but I got the Samsung Juke in Red. Why do I say it’s probably going to end up being a piece of crap?

Because it was FREE! I didn’t even have to pay shipping. They had several phones that we could “upgrade” to that wouldn’t cost us anything. So I picked the Juke in Red, LaShawn picked the Juke in Teal, and then her mom picked the Samsung SCH-u340 for LaShawn’s dad to have. All three were listed as free phones with a 2 year renewal of our contract.

Now the gal we spoke to at the store told us that our phones would be the price for a 2 year contract, but the thing is, the 2 year contract price for the enV is $129.99 and they were listing it at $139.99 at the store. Then she said that online we’d probably get better deals. Well, frankly, if that’s the case, I’ll just stay away from the Verizon store and do all my upgrading online! After all, why go into the store and pay MORE for a phone than I have to? If we’d have gotten the Jukes at the store, they’d have charged us $80 each! No thanks!

Introducing SocialSpark

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Now I know what you’re thinking…what the heck is SocialSpark? Well, Socia Spark is the latest innovation from Izea, and it’s up and running, LIVE, right now! How utterly awesome is that? Ok, to you it’s probably not so awesome because you have no idea what it is or how it works. Well, let me tell you.

SocialSpark is by the same people who brought you PayPerPost, but with a cool innovative twist. Your links are Google Friendly. They don’t violate Google’s webmaster ethics, so you won’t have to worry about losing your page rank. You can blog about things that interest you and get paid for it, without compromising anything on your blog. Now that’s awesome.

Plus, SocialSpark has some really great things going like sponsored posts, sponsored blogs (you can actually have an advertiser sponsor your blog for a day), and more. To top it all off, SocialSpark is also a social networking website. That’s right, you can create a profile, add friends, send each other messages, leave comments about each other, and everything you’d do on any other social networking site, plus you can have the opportunity to get paid!

And, if you’re also interested in advertising on blogs, you can create a profile, wander the website, and see what kind of blogs you find there. If you like what you see, you can create an opportunity. And for those of us who are blogging and just want to get a few more readers or link exchanges, there are “sparks” which are free to create and take. Now isn’t that an awesome concept?

I signed up with them when they were still in Alpha testing and I love it. It’s a great opportunity for companies to get their websites and products out there, as well as for bloggers to make some extra cash. And everyone can make some new friends along the way. Go ahead, give it a try, you know you want to. )
