What Do You Think of Paid Blogging?

I’ve seen several blog posts that state that paid blogging devalues blogging and bloggers. My question is why?

Yes, blogging is a hobby. But people have made it a business as well. You can make pretty much any hobby a business. Some people have made cross stitching or crocheting or knitting their business, and it doesn’t devalue other stitchers/crocheters/knitters, so how it is that being a paid blogger devalues bloggers? That really doesn’t make sense to me.

A blog is a website just like any other website. The owner of said website has the right to make money from it just like they would have the right to make money off any other type of website they put up. So why is blogging such a different animal? What makes it so special that bloggers can’t make money from their hobby like other hobbyists do?

I’ve seen arguments that people don’t believe it when you review a product and say you weren’t paid for it. That’s their problem. The only person who needs to know or care that it wasn’t a paid review is you. Period. Let others think what they want to about what you said. Bottom line, paid or not, if the reader is interested in the product, they’ll check it out. End of story. So why the big deal about paid blogging?

To my idea, paid blogging is just like getting paid to do anything else that you consider a hobby. It’s a nice little bit of extra income and when it stops, it stops. Oh well, big deal.

Good Grief

I have too many places. On the web that is. I have 2 myspace accounts, one for me personally and one for Gothic-Peach.Net, I have a Kaneva account (Love Kaneva), a Gather account, a VampireFreaks account, a Facebook account, a Vox blog. a LiveJournal, and a zillion other blogs. I have too many web places. Sheesh. No wonder most of them are neglected. I’m juggling more websites than most paid webmasters. LOL

For criminy sakes, it is snowing. Granted, it’s not that big of a deal, but still. Bleh. I’d rather it not snow right now. LOL I’m not in the mood for it. *shakes fist at the sky* You hear me?? I’m not in the mood for it. Ok, I feel better now. ) Yeah, I know, I’m a dork. biggrin

Well That Helps

They decided they didn’t need the 2nd note, because it was obvious that it was a case of “had to wait to see a doctor” before I could get the note I got. Well duh. Yeah, I can just waltz into the doctor’s office on New Year’s Day. LOL Duh.

In any case, my job is intact for the time being at least. And now, even though this is really short, I’m off. I’m tired and I need to get to bed. Good night. )

Oh The Joys

I went to the ER today, got a doctor’s note for work, then get a phone call from work that I have to get ANOTHER note because this one didn’t cover the two days BEFORE I went to the doctor that I was off work due to not having a voice. Um, why is it that they rolled them up into one LAST time I brought the note in dated for the 3rd day, but can’t do that this time? Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I’ll try to get the new note, but I’m doubting seriously I can since the doctor didn’t see me until today. Sometimes, I honestly wonder about workplaces these days.
