Wicked Forest by VC Andrews

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Disclosure: I purchased this book with my own money. I have no connection with this book’s publisher or author in any way. No compensation was received for this review.

Amazingly enough, Wicked Forest picked up precisely where Willow left off. I was surprised as VC Andrews seems to go back and forth between starting the next book in a series right where the last one left off, and starting the next book months, even years after the last one left off. So it was nice to see that this book started where Willow left off.

This was another great book by VC Andrews. The storyline was great, and although I have to admit, most of her series have the same general plot line, I really enjoyed this book. It had a few surprising twists, including one that I wasn’t expecting to tell the truth. I can’t wait to get further into the next book in the series, Twisted Roots. I started it yesterday but I’m not too far into it. You’ll be getting a review of that book as well.

Random Things About Me

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Well, since Jenn tagged anyone who hadn’t already done it, here goes:

The Rules:

* Link to your tagger and post these rules.
* Share 7 facts about yourself: some random, some weird.
* Tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names and link to them.
* Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at their blog.

7 random and/or weird things about me:

1) Needles terrify me – to the point that you literally can’t get blood out of me…but yet I got my tongue pierced.
2) I love all cats, but prefer black ones.
3) I hate the taste of water and only drink it if absolutely necessary. However, Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke rock my socks.
4) WWE Wrestling and NASCAR are the only sports I will tolerate.
5) I was born on Wednesday.
6) I was born on Christmas Eve.
7) I’m the only person I know who was proud to say they were a housekeeper.

I tag anyone who hasn’t done this, but especially LaShawn and Annie.

Of Course

I love My Chemical Romance. And as you can see, they are headed for a couple of spots in Asia on their World Tour. Now I don’t mean to say that MCR’s fans in Asia shouldn’t have a chance to see them, but damn I wish they’d come to Sioux City here in Iowa in the US. I’d like to see them too! LOL

Hold Up There

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Ok, on some of my other blogs, I do paid blog posts. Obviously I don’t do them on this one, my archives are short enough to tell you that. But, I do them on Gothic Peach, my Vox, and possibly, if it’s accepted, on Basically Geeky. Here’s my problem. I logged into Smorty the other day and saw an available post. It stated it was available for the VOX blog. I thought I might have already done the post once, but you know what? It was LISTED AS AVAILABLE FOR THAT BLOG. So I took it. Then I get a decline notice saying that because I’d already done that post on that blog, I couldn’t take it again. THEN I get a notice from Smorty saying it was THEIR MISTAKE and that THEIR SOFTWARE THAT MANAGES THE OPPORTUNITIES had been showing people opps that weren’t actually available to them.

I can understand an advertiser saying no to a duplicate post. However, Smorty should still be responsible for paying the people WHO DID THE WORK TO CREATE THE POSTS out of their own pockets. It is NOT fair to me to have done the post and then to be told that 1) it’s declined and 2) that it was SMORTY’S fault, but I still won’t get paid for it even though I took the opp in good faith because SMORTY said I was eligible. Now I’m wondering what kind of company I’m working with. I can understand when my job overpays me and then takes the money back. But I can’t understand when my job doesn’t pay me for the work I did because my job made a mistake and had me do something I wasn’t supposed to. That doesn’t mean I didn’t do the work and shouldn’t get paid for it. If SMORTY hadn’t made the mistake, I wouldn’t have taken the opp in the first place. So frankly, I believe I may well be finished with Smorty after this.

Clean and Rosey

Me that is. I just got out of the shower. My Mary Kay body wash smells like roses. The matching body lotion does as well, but I didn’t use that. LOL If I get up in time tomorrow, I might actually put makeup on my face before I go to work, but I don’t know about that yet.

I’ve been cleaning out my computer. If I don’t use a program, I uninstall it. I uninstalled quite a few programs. I do keep a version of Paint Shop Pro and a version of Photoshop both on my computer but I do use them for different things. Other than that, I got rid of a LOT of programs. The only one I can’t seem to get rid of is Kazaa, it won’t uninstall for some reason. It pisses me off too because it’s just taking up space that it doesn’t need to take up. Grrrrrr.

Tonight however, I decided that I am going to get a new computer even if I end up paying the RTO place $200 a month for both computer and couch. I’m sick and tired of this piece of junk of mine not working properly, and although a friend of mine is sending me a new motherboard with more memory, I’m seriously wanting to get something a lot better. I’m thinking laptop at the moment. I’ll see though. The cheapest monthly rent for a laptop at Aaron’s is $139, so I need to stop, take stock of my finances and see what’s going on. I’ve got to pay a lot of extra taxes this year from the paid blogging I’ve done, so I’m not going to have as much on my refund as I did before, and I want to use at least some of my refund for a down payment on a car.

I’m also thinking of trying to keep all my paid blogging money back for the purpose of either making the payments on a laptop from Aaron’s or to save until I get enough to buy a laptop outright. I know that I usually average about $90 from just one of the paid blogging places, so it’s possible that I might be able to use that to make the payments on a laptop. So I’ll see what happens.

I suppose I’ll take off for now. I need to work on a few paid posts and do some other things on the computer before I go to bed.
